Before we left Michigan, I volunteered at The Motion Initiative, a bicycle ministry where youth can earn “shop bucks” by working on bicycles and later use those to buy a bicycle of their own. In the process of working alongside a mentor/mechanic, they learn the skill of bicycle repair and are held to high expectations of work ethic. Looking back, I see how God was preparing me for the next steps in His plan.

While still living in Grand Rapids, Andrej and I would head off in different directions to serve in various ministries. As much as we each enjoyed the things we were a part of, we really wanted to serve together as a family. We wanted our kids to know serving and caring for others as a normal part of life. For whatever reason, God decided that South Atlanta would be the place for our family to live that out, and we have all grown to love it. The kids greatly enjoy our regular neighborhood prayer walks. They may not understand some of the bigger issues we are praying about, but they join us in praying for our neighbors and friends.

If you were wondering why this poor ole blog is getting so neglected, one of the things that’s been keeping me busy is trying to launch the South Altanta Bike Shop. I recently wrote a blog post on Metro Merge’s blog that talks about juggling multiple responsibilities.



This is what I recorded on our way home from South Carolina the other day.


EHey everyone! Our family has a new member as of 11:48am on 6/22/2009. He weighed 9 pounds 5.6 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long. His name (which he just received, some 53 hours after birth) is Elias Benjamin Ciho. More info to come and pictures are located here.


dsc00314Before I can write, I need to wipe this layer of dust off the ol’ blog. It has been so long since I posted something, I’m not even sure I remember how to use WordPress. Anyway, I did want to give a quick update on the pregnancy and upload some new pictures. Pregnancy update = still pregnant!
