Tobi

One night after dinner, Kaiya was in a silly mood so I grabbed the camera hoping to capture some of her antics on video. The video is a little long, but really cute. Kaiya answers my questions about Santa, sings, at one point breaks into Baa Baa Black Sheep (I’m still not exactly sure why), demonstrates her spelling skills and ends the video by wishing you all a Merry Christmas! You can also hear Tobi jabbering away as he shares his thoughts on Christmas as well. Enjoy!

dsc03858.JPGTobi is over half way to his 1st birthday! At his 6 month well-baby checkup, Tobi weighed in at 17 lbs and 12 1/2 ounces, and measured 27 inches tall. Andrej calls him his Valibuk, which doesn’t really translate into English, but in Slovak it’s a fairytale character that is so strong he can push over trees. That’s our Tobi!

It’s been three months since I last wrote a detailed Tobi update, and so many things have changed in those three months. At six months, Tobi finally sleeps soundly through the night. He nurses around 7:30 pm and goes straight to bed afterwards and sleeps until about 7:30 or 8:00 the next morning. It’s pure bliss! I didn’t think Tobi would ever consistently sleep 12 hours at night. (Read more …)

At Tobi’s four month well-baby check-up, he weighed in at 16 pounds, measured 25 inches long and had a head circumference of 40 1/2 cm. He is one healthy, happy baby!

dsc03330.JPGI can’t believe it, but it has been exactly three months since our precious Tobias joined our family. He has been such an incredible addition. Tobi is a really happy baby full of smiles, pseudo giggles, funny sounds and precious coos. When he smiles, his entire face lights up. Some of my favorite moments with him are when I look down to see why he has stopped nursing and find his big blue eyes looking up at me with the biggest grin spread across his face and milk running down his cheek. I can’t help but scoop him up close and plant kisses all over his little face and neck. (Read more …)

dsc03021.JPGUnbelievable! Where did June go? For me, June is one big blur of two to three hour intervals of feeding, burping, diapering, cleaning spit-up, rocking, shushing, diapering, cuddling, rocking and shushing some more. There was a little bit of sleep mixed in there somewhere, but I don’t remember doing much of that. Our sweet Tobi basically slept through the first two and a half weeks of his life and then somewhere around the middle of June he suddenly woke up. He then spent the rest of June trying so very hard to get back to sleep. Unfortunately for us all he wasn’t very successful. We had a couple of difficult weeks, but it seems that Tobi has recently accepted his new life outside of the womb and is thankfully adjusting. (Read more …)

dsc02974.jpgFriday, Tobi and I met Andrej at our doctor’s office for his two week check-up. It is so hard to believe it has only been two weeks since little Tobs joined us. It really seems like much longer. I was slightly nervous about the appointment because when we took Kaiya in for her two week appointment, she freaked out and wanted to nurse the entire time. She spit-up and pooped and we ended up changing her clothes several times. However, Tobi was a different story. He slept the entire time. He slept through the weighing and measuring and poking and prodding and didn’t really open his eyes until Dr. B. brought out the cold stethoscope. He got a really good report, minus the small amount of thrush she noticed in his mouth. We both left with prescriptions, and other than that, our Tobi is a healthy growing baby boy. (Read more …)

dsc03183.jpgWe are back home, after an exciting weekend, with a precious brand new person, two delightfully exhausted parents, two overjoyed grandparents and one big sister who can’t get enough kisses and big “huggies” from baby Tobi. We couldn’t be prouder or more thankful for the new blessing God has given us. Our little Tobi is healthy, beautiful and the sweetest little boy I’ve ever seen, and rightfully named as Tobias means “God is good!” The following is a recap of his birth story. (Read more …)
