My mom called yesterday to brag tell us all about the wonderful warm weather they are currently experiencing down in South Carolina. She said they were enjoying a beautiful sunny day with temps in the mid to upper 70s. I looked out our front window to see this: (Read more …)

Sorry guys for this long period of silence. We have been very busy lately and on top of that, the battery in our four-and-a-half year old digital camera is retiring. Within a couple of days we should be posting about our Labor Day weekend visit to South Carolina, Kaiya's latest tricks and about what it is that I do at this new job. Inspite of the bad battery, we were able to get some good pictures that will be posted soon. We should be also be receiving a new battery for our camera this week!

A few months ago a comment appeared on our blog from an old friend, Miso, from high school. Apparently he had been working in Chicago for a year and never knew we lived so close. Saturday was his last day in Chicago because his company is relocating him to Vienna, Austria. Saturday also happened to be the last day in the States of another high school friend – Martin who has been traveling through the U.S. by trains during the last couple of weeks. So I figured we could have a mini reunion and I could help take them to the airport.

So Saturday morning I got in the car, drove three and a half hours and met up with these two fellows. I haven't seen them in almost 6 years so sitting in La Creperie and talking about where life has taken us since graduation was absolutelly surreal. Especially since we went to high school together on another continent some 5,000 miles away!

After lunch I dropped them off at the airport and headed home to Grand Rapids. It was a long day with lots of driving but it was well worth it. We agreed that we should meet again in another random place, wherever life takes us. I think Miso mentioned Singapore.
