If you looked through photo albums of my childhood, you would see year after year pictures of my brother and me standing outside on Easter Sunday. Dressed in our Sunday best, we were always positioned nicely beside some blooming tree or flowers holding our Easter baskets. I knew on the Friday before Easter this year that there would be no outside pictures of Kaiya and Tobi in the new clothes purchased for them by their grandparents and great-grandparents. A huge snow storm blew in as we were dyeing Easter eggs Friday afternoon. As beautiful as it was to watch the snowflakes fall, it didn't exactly fit my picture of Easter weekend. In the weather's defense, Easter did come really early this year.
Nevertheless, eggs were dyed:
We were supposed to attend an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, but it was canceled due to the weather. I was somewhat glad for the cancellation as I just couldn't imagine Kaiya and Tobs hunting eggs in their snowsuits. Although finding brightly colored eggs in the white snow would have been a lot easier. Maybe next year :-) Instead, we played in the backyard.
On Easter Sunday, we went to church to celebrate our risen Savior. When I went in to collect Kaiya from her class at church, I asked her teacher how she did. She smiled and explained that Kaiya had been quite the room leader. She kept saying things like, "Come on guys, let's sing!" After church and a quick nap for Tobi, we did get a few pictures of our little family of four:
And pictures were taken, albeit not very good ones, of the kids in their new clothes:
Tobi would NOT leave his adorable hat on his head for more than a second, so these are the best shots we could get:
Overall, it was a special Easter no matter the weather.
