I was quite surprised last week when I posted the story about Kaiya's bad dream to see that an entire month had passed between entries. In my typical catch-up fashion, here are a few highlights from the past month or so that should have been blogged:
My parents came for a visit. They drove up at the end of February and we enjoyed their company for almost a week. They brought along a neighbor girl's Flat Stanley for the trip. We had a blast as always and tried every way possible to get them to stay longer.- Andrej went to Chicago for a short business trip. Thankfully, it fell during the time my parents were here so I didn't have to manage the kids alone.
- Kaiya's pre-ballet class ended and she finished off her last class by completely refusing to participate in any of the activities. Even though she was being a
stinkertwo-year-old, I'm glad we took the class and will probably continue next session. She really did learn a lot, even though you would have never guessed it by watching her "perform" at the final class. - While my parents were here, I hit a huge pothole and busted a tire on our car. (That won't be surprising to those of you who drive around our city.) Thankfully, my dad was in the car with me and had the tire changed in a matter of minutes. I'm not sure what I would have done had he not been.
Tobi got upgraded to a big boy car seat. It was a good thing because at his 9 month well baby check up he weighed in at 19 lbs and 9 oz. His bucket car seat only went to 20 lbs. At the end of his eighth month, he gave up his army crawl for a full-on crawl and we have been chasing him around since. He'll be 10 months old tomorrow, so hopefully a more detailed post will follow.
- Thankfully Kaiya hasn't had anymore middle-of-the-night nightmares since the one I blogged about last week. However, she talks a lot about being afraid of various things in her room. I've removed several of the small things that cause her to tell me crazy stories each morning of seeing them "floating up to the skies" and "getting into her bed", but I've had to draw the line on the bigger items. Unfortunately for her the ceiling fan stayed. Our Kaiya sure has one grandiose imagination. I'm sure it will come in handy someday.
My sweet husband recently gave me a Saturday off. He got some one-on-two time with the kiddos and I had an incredible day at IKEA with one of my dearest friends, Trisha. We spent over six hours perusing the store, talking, laughing, shopping, eating and enjoying being sans kids for a day. It was so nice not to rush through as I usually have to do when Andrej is with me. He has one thing on his mind when we get to IKEA and it involves Swedish meatballs and apple cake. He has no patience for sitting on couches, looking in cabinets and oohing and aahing over organizational tools. Plus, I came home to a clean house, bathed kids and was happy to hear that both Kaiya and Tobi had been on their best behavior. It doesn't get much better than that!
- My friend Trisha and I have also been taking a dance/cardio class together. It has been so much fun and refreshing to get some exercise, learn new dance moves and spend time with my friend on a weekly basis. Our class ends this week, but we've had such a great time that we will most likely join again for the next session.
We've also really tried to make the most out of our winter weather and enjoy time outside as a family. Kaiya loves playing in the snow and will probably be the only one in our family sad to see it go. She will be so confused when shoveling the driveway is no longer part of her daily routine. For sure, sledding with her best friend Lucy was one of Kaiya's outside highlights.
- Last but not least we've enjoyed sharing meals with friends, walks in the neighborhood, great conversations and dreaming about what's next for our family.
In addition to those highlights, we have several funny videos and Kaiya quotes to post along with some Easter pictures of two little cuties, but since it's pushing midnight they will have to wait for another day…or two. In the meantime, jump on over to our recent pictures to see more of what has been going on around here.

Which IKEA do you go to? We go to Canton a lot.

Topher…We've been to both Canton and Chicago, but I definitely prefer the drive to Canton. It's exactly two hours from our driveway! I guess the Chicago IKEA isn't much farther, but who wants to deal with that traffic?!?

My favorite store is the one in Schaumberg, but that's the farthest one. So we always go to Canton these days.

I think we're online at the same time! Thanks for your encouragement. Actually, I am thinking about selling some things on my own, I just have to figure out how I find the time to get started and if I can get back what I would put into it. I'm pretty excited about it! Really, thanks for your encouragement! It means alot.
