dsc03770.JPGThis is a few weeks late, but I couldn't help but post some pictures from Halloween of our little pumpkin and monkey. My favorite Kaiya quote from Halloween happened the day before when I went in to get her up from her nap. We were headed to a Halloween party at Andrej's work and I needed to get her dressed in her monkey costume. Tobi was already dressed in his pumpkin costume so I laid him down on Kaiya's rug to get started on transforming her. She very excitedly jumped out of bed, ran over to Tobi and exclaimed, "Tobi is a punkin wunkin. I'm gonna pick him!" She then proceed with all her might to pick up the little pumpkin. She soon realized he was a little heavier than the pumpkins we had picked earlier at the pumpkin patch.

dsc03760.JPGAfter getting the monkey dressed, we headed to Andrej's work for the party. Kaiya had so much fun and actually led the group as they went around trick-or-treating at each desk. About halfway through, Kaiya started saying in the cutest voice, "Trick-or Treat" and happily held out her pumpkin bag to collect her treats. It was good practice for the actual night.

dsc03761.JPGOn Halloween, we once again dressed the kids in their costumes. Kaiya was beyond excited as we walked to our good friends', and neighbors, house to join them for Halloween festivities. After a yummy dinner, we attempted to wrangle a monkey, a penguin, two princesses, a flower, a dragon, a puppy and a pumpkin for a picture. Needless to say, we were not successful as they were all too excited to pose for a picture. Here is one of my favorites from the outtakes, as Lucy the penguin tries hard to get Kaiya to cooperate.

dsc03766.JPGUnfortunately, just as we were about to head out into the neighborhood it started to rain, hard. I was really disappointed because we had so much fun trick-or-treating in our neighborhood last year, and I was really excited for Kaiya to experience it again. The rain didn't seem like it was going to let up anytime soon so umbrellas were distributed and the group hit the streets. There was no way I was taking Tobi out in that cold wet mess, so he and I stayed behind and helped pass out candy. I snapped the picture you see to the left as Andrej and Kaiya, umbrella in hand, were leaving with the rest of the group. It wasn't raining as hard as the picture seems, I'm not sure why it appears that way, but it was really coming down.

About half an hour later the rain stopped and Tobi and I ventured out to find the others. We had only walked about a block when I saw Andrej holding hands with a little monkey dragging her pumpkin bag heading my way. When I reached them, Andrej said Kaiya had told him she was all done and ready to go home. I couldn't blame her as she was one soggy little monkey. Let's just say that rain plus a fleece monkey suit equals one heavy soggy mess. We returned to our friends' house and peeled Kaiya's costume off. There we enjoyed eating pumpkin cake, counting Kaiya's wet candy and making fun of the various costume clad trick-or-treaters that came to the door while we waited for the other kiddos to return.

It was a fun night spent with friends, even if the weather didn't cooperate. I know Kaiya had a great time because the next day she kept asking to wear her costume and go trick-or-treating. I did allow her to dress up one more time so I could snap a few more pictures of my little monkey and "punkin wunkin".
