Today Baby Ciho and I are 21 weeks along in this pregnancy. It is so hard to believe that we are already over half way to the finish line. So far this pregnancy is flying by. Last week, I had my 20 week OB visit and besides gaining way too much weight over Christmas, baby and I both are doing great. Following the doctor's appointment, Andrej and I headed to the hospital for the 20 week ultrasound and our first glimpse at Baby Ciho. In addition to seeing our baby we really wanted to find out the gender. We both had a feeling that it was going to be another girl. I informed the technician right away our desire to know the gender and to please let us know as soon as she could tell.Â
As the technician collected various measurements we chatted about the fact that we have a 17-month-old daughter. She asked us if we would be mad at her if she told us that we were having another girl. I quickly informed her that we would actually love to have another girl and are a little afraid of having a boy. She shared that she has two sons of her own and that they are a lot of fun. She even threw in how much they love their mama, which is really appealing to me as Kaiya is very much a daddy's girl.
Shortly after that conversation the technician whipped the screen around and showed us a shot of the baby. She asked us what we saw. Andrej and I stared at the screen clearly confused by the picture. She pointed out there was a leg and another leg and the baby's bottom and…ooohhh BOY! There was something else there we had never seen on an ultrasound screen before. It's a boy!
Initially we both felt very much the same way we did after finding out Kaiya was a girl. We really have no parental intuition as we were sure Kaiya was going to be a boy and this baby was going to be another girl. However, just as it did with Kaiya, it didn't take long for it to sink in that we are having a boy and for us to get extremely excited. Our parents and siblings are equally as excited and knowing that we will have a boy in the family to carry on the Ciho name is a nice perk as well. Everything else also looked good and Baby Boy Ciho is growing right on track for our May 30 due date. Here are a few pictures of him:

(Just in case these pictures don't make much sense I'll include a little description. All three pictures are profiles of the baby's face and upper body. In the first picture, his hand is curved up and touching his mouth as if he's feeding himself.)
I want to share one other thing that was just about as shocking as finding out that we are having a boy. I was sure we were all set on naming this baby if it just happened to be a boy, if it would have been a girl we were in trouble. However, I should have known my dear husband would never let naming one of our children be so easy. If you need an example, feel free to read the L-O-N-G story behind naming Kaiya here. Anyway, the name game has begun in our household and it feels oh so familiar to the months leading up to Kaiya's birth. So, please join us on this journey of naming Baby Boy Ciho and feel free to comment or email us your suggestions. Most likely I will like your suggestions and Andrej will not, so don't be too disappointed when name after name gets crossed off the list. Hopefully by May 30, our Baby Boy will have a name.

Well, I will be a grandma again in April or May also. Gena has 3 boys ages 13,11, and 9. She and Joey are adopting a little girl from Guatamala. They are going to name her Lagen which is a combination of their names..Larry Joe and Gena.
A question about your name for BB Ciho. Are you planning on continuing with starting names with the letter K? If so, how about Kaleb? Or Kolton? Or Kelly?
Well, whatever you name him, he is blessed to have parents like you.

Ludi,
I am glad to hear that the baby is healthy. I must admit that I was really wanting you to have another girl but I have no idea why. Like I have any experience with either! I can't wait to see what he will look like….hopefully like your little tan Californian looking Kaiya. Ha. Ha. As far as names, I have suggestions for what you shouldn't name him because I have obnoxious students with the same names:
Charlie
Jimi
Davin
Ben
Jordan
Keegan
I associate the above names with only negative thoughts so please consider that in your name choice.
Love you bunches and can't wait to see you again soon.
COME TO CHARLESTON FOR A VACATION!

Jeeee, to je supeeer, tesim sa s vami!
(treba to to trochu spestrit lubozvucnou slovencinou, no nie?:)
Co sa mena tyka, ak ja budem mat niekedy syna, tak sa bude urcite volat Richard. Teda ak moj manzel-to-be nebude velmi proti;) Aj ked, vraj to ma v anglictine trochu ine konotacie. Este sa mi celkom pozdava aj Jonatan/Jonathan.

How about naming the son Hedgbert?
Now, seriously, I like the names Noah or Landon.
By the way, why is not Rory your first choice any longer?
Take care,
Liba
