Kaiya has been rolling over both ways for a few months now. She doesn’t really seem to like it and rolls only when a toy is just out of reach or by accident. My cousin’s baby at six months rolled everywhere. He would roll from one side of the room to the other then they would turn him around and he would roll back. For whatever reason, Kaiya has never taken to the rolling thing. Which is why last weekend, when she was screaming at the top of her lungs halfway through her nap, Andrej was shocked to find her on her tummy. She had rolled over, pulled up on her bumper and was looking through the crib slats. It would have been really cute except she was crying hysterically. It took at least fifteen minutes of soothing to calm her down. Since then she has practiced the trick many times, mostly at the end of her nap (thankfully), and screams when she can’t get back down from the bumper. However, during her morning nap today I flipped the little burger three times before she finally stayed put and fell asleep. I’m really hoping my budding gymnast tires of this soon. If anyone has any advice or experience with this, please please comment.

Our daughter rolled ok, but sat up really late. She just couldn't do it. Then one weekend we left her with my folks and when we went up there to get her it was night and we touched her and she woke up and rolled over and sat up all at once. Just like that. Later that weekend she pulled herself into a stand on the coffee table.
So it can happen mighty quick.

Hi Kaiya, this is your friend Jackson. I, too, had to be flipped over so much that my parents called me the pancake. For about 1.5 months, they had to get up 5-6 times a night to flip me back to my tummy, cause I HATE sleeping on my back, and I didn't know how to roll back to my tummy on my own. They even created something for me they called the turtle pack (email me for a picture), trying to keep me on my tummy, but it didn't work - I'm a strong little guy. Thankfully I eventually learned how to roll and get comfortable on my own, and am now an avid side sleeper. Love, Jackson Desnoyers

Hi Jess, Your mom gave me this site a while back so I could see your beautiful baby girl! I was just thinking today how much she had probably grown since I looked the first time..She's so beautiful!! All I can tell you is just cherish every moment - you will blink your eye's & she'll be walking & talking & you won't even remember the first time she rolled over.. Our little Reese is 20mos & it seems the time is just slipping away! Continue to take pictures & write every little detail in her book. She'll do so many wonderful things you'll loose memory of those little moments..Hope you are all doing well -(we are in Anderson)! Take care..
